"Is there anybody here who thinks that the gold standard is the best thing? (Cries of "Yes" and "No.") (Mr. Bryan repeats the question.) (Elderly man: "We have coined twice as much silver since the demonetization act as there ever was from the time of Jefferson to '73.")

How much silver are we coining now? (No response.) I want those who say that gold is a good thing to hold up some gold. Hold up your gold, some of you. (Train begins to move.) My friends, look out for the gold man without any gold."
