"Ex-President Harrison was elected to the presidency on a platform that denounced Mr. Cleveland's administration on the ground that he had tried to demonetize silver, but the ex-president is today stumping this state trying to get the Republicans to endorse Mr. Cleveland's financial policy. His policy during the last administration was worse on the money question than his first administration, but such a change has come over the Republican leaders that they want us today to submit to a policy which they denounced eight years ago. But I say to you, my friends, the only reason for this change is that the money influences wrote the Republican platform and their influences are trying to make the American people bend to a foreign yoke and pay tribute to a foreign despotism."
