[After talking to his supporters for a minute or two, he turned to his opponents] and to these he said that in voting for a gold standard they must have forgotten the feeling of pride that came to every American in reading the pages of history that described the revolutionary war.

VIGOROUS ADDRESS

...[H]e told them...that unless they wanted their children to feel the blush of shame for the action of their fathers they should not vote for a policy that allowed American finances to be dominated by foreign influences.
