Letter from Samuel B. Reed to Jennie Reed, August 13, 1863

In this letter from August 13, 1863, Samuel Reed writes to his wife to inform her that he will not be able to go home that week as he had intended. Mr. Thielsen has been called to Michigan and Reed states that he cannot leave until Thielsen returns.

Dearest Jenny

I fear I shal [sic] disappoint you as well as myself in not being able to go home this week as I had made arrangements. Mr. Thielsen has been suddenly and unexpectedly called to Michigan. There is a probability of his getting home tomorrow morning if he does I can leave in the evening and reach home Saturday. I am very sorry that anything should occur to disarrange my plans.

I have expected a letter from you these two days but none has been recieved [sic] .

I have but a moment to write if you get this Saturday evening and must say good day.

Affectionately yours,
Samuel.
