"They say this is a town that believes in gold; if so I want you to tell the people that we will do even better, for we believe in both gold and silver. (Cheers.) I promised myself that I would not do any talking on the road, but the presence of so many enthusiastic persons is a temptation which I am not able to withstand."
"I don't know whether I can come back or not, because it is a large country and it is going to take a good while to get over it, but if the shouting that I see here is an indication of your feelings, I do not think it will be necessary for me to come back here. (Cheers.) I have promised that I would not make any appointments until election, but I will break that promise and appoint each one of you a missionary to go and work until election day." (Cheers.)
