Letter from Samuel B. Reed to Wife and Family, October 22, 1864

In this letter from October 22, 1864, Samuel Reed writes to his wife and family describing his return to Salt Lake City following his third survey trip for the Union Pacific Railroad.

Arrived in the city last evening from making the last survey I expect to make this season. I feel quite worn out with the hard service I have performed the past six months of camp life in the mountains. A few days rest and then for the long tiresome stage ride from here to the end of the railroad.
