I came here from Boston, as I wrote you last Friday evening. My personal natters are not settled. Mr. Dillon promised that they shall be this week and the balance remitted to me at Joliet.

Last evening I went to Booth's new theatre and saw him in his representation of Hamlet. It was a great treat to me. You know that is my favorite of all Shakespeare's great tragedies. General Dix occupied a seat with me and between the acts I had quite a talk with him.
