Dear Sir

I have just recvd another estimate of quantities on 4th part of 5th 100 miles from Genl. Dodge.

The former estimate averaged about 6000 cubic yards per mile for 180 miles from the end of the track. According to the revised estimate there is on the 4th hundred 7800 cubic yards per mile, and on 82 miles of the 5th hundred 11768 cubic yards per mile. These amounts are much greater than we anticipated when I was in New York .

Yours very respectfully
Saml B. Reed
