Gov. Carrol And Mayor Latrobe

This article from the July 21, 1877 issue of the Baltimore Sun describes a meeting between Maryland Governor John Lee Carroll and Baltimore Mayor Ferdinand Latrobe.

GOV. CARROL AND MAYOR LATROBE

Inside of the Camden depot building Gov. Carroll and Mayor Latrobe were present, with Vice President King and other officers of the railroad company, Gen. James R. Herbert commanding the military, and Police Marshal Gray, Deputy Marshal Frey, Police Commissioner Gilmor, the captains of police in the six districts of Baltimore city, and all the available force were assembled in and around the station to assist in preserving order. The two companies of the Sixth Regiment M. N. G., under Adjunct Bishop, who had passed through from their armory, forced their way after being stoned at the lower part of Camden station, about 8:15 P. M. Some firing occurred and the crowd was wild with excitement.
