Court House, Terre Haute, INSource: NOT THE RIGHT MAN, Republicans Erred in Choosing Their "Advance Agent of Prosperity.", Omaha World-Herald (Morning Edition), Friday, October 23, 1896
"I believe it is claimed by the Republicans that their candidate is the advance agent of prosperity. I think they have the wrong man. I think they were speaking of the chairman of the national committee, not of the candidate and that the Republican committeeman, the chairman of the committee, is the advance agent of that peculiar prosperity that comes just before the election to those who expect to make enough money in the campaign to run them until the next campaign comes. (Cheers.)
If you want to know who is going to be prosperous under the Republican administration, if the Republicans win, I beg you to go and find out who is contributing money to secure the election. If you can find where the money comes from then you will know who the men are who contribute the money and expect to be prosperous for four years and get back more money from the people than they spent to corrupt." (Cheers.)
