Letter from W. W. McCafferty to F. P. Lord, November 19, 1863

McCafferty notes damage done to Engine Rapidan by contrabands.

Mr. F. P. Lord Asst. Supt.

Will you have the kindness to instruct Mr. Bear [?] to send some responsible person in charge of his contrabands when he has Tenders to move. I make this request in consequence of serious damage having been done to Engine Rapidan yesterday by having the Tender of Engines Sickles pushed in the paint shop by contrabands on their own account.

The damage will amount to fifteen or twenty dollars.
