"Fellow Citizens: I remember that less than a year ago I stopped off here for a few
hours and spoke at the court house. At that time we were anxious that the Democratic party should
adopt a platform which was democratic. Since then a great struggle has been going on and last week
it ended in the national convention and that convention adopted a platform that was democratic in
every line and every word and the party goes before the country appealing to the people on that
platform."
