September 17

Lexington, NC (Excerpt)

Omaha World-Herald (Morning Edition), Omaha, NE, 18 September, 1896.

"In this campaign, when our enemies are united against us, our friends are also united, and with the help of the Democratic party, which adopted a platform at Chicago which is pervaded with a spirit of American independence, and to those forces has been added the forces represented by the Populist party and by the free silver Republicans of the United States against this double party opposed to us, we present the triple alliance of those who believe in the money of the constitution. The issue presented now is a clean cut issue. No man who believes in an American system of finance for the American people can by his vote assist in sending a man to congress who goes there to support the Republican policy on the money question." (Cheers.)
