September 26

Bath, ME (Excerpt)

Omaha World-Herald (Sunday Edition), Omaha, NE, 27 September, 1896.

"This visit to the home of my colleague in this typical city of New England, is one of the pleasant incidents of my journey from the Platte to the Kennebec. I did not become acquainted with Mr. Sewall until the convention, but my opinion of him has improved from day to day."

HAVE NO HOSTILE DESIGNS

"I can assure you that we have no hostile designs against the people of the east. The policy we advocate we believe will help the people of every section of the country. Therefore I am glad to [unintelligble] those policies even to those who were hitherto opposed to them. Such is the power of truth that I expect to see bimetallism at 16 to 1 be yet as popular in Maine as in Colorado. When the principles are understood it is all simple enough."
